Exchange Club of Folly Beach Works With Local Teens

As many know, the Folly Beach Exchange Club works with local charities to support children, veterans, and other causes. Last winter, we were approached by local parents to work with kids from School of the Arts. On Saturday, June 1, we were fortunate enough to work with several teenage girls doing yard work at seniors’ homes. Students that participated were: Lucy Larichiuta, Hadley McAdams, Alison Wager, Marley Mendes, Harper Woodley, and Ainsley and Charlotte Payne. The Club and the teens worked on the yard of Ms. Lindler Bootle on E. Cooper. Her daughter Martha worked with the girls clearing a large garden area of weeds, as well as separate area weeding and placing mulch. Our second yard was for Ms. Diane Rackel on E. Erie. We removed bamboo plants that were leaning on the roof and removed vines from fencing, trees, and bushes. The efforts of the young ladies generated community service points at JICS. We look forward to doing more activities in the future!

The Exchange Club also cooked hamburgers for the Family Fun Night in June with fun had by all. We are taking a break in July with no meeting planned. We start back up in August with our scholarship awards. Come join us August 15!
