Folly Association of Business July 2024 Update

The Folly Association of Business (FAB) would like to thank Ford Thrift, a defense attorney with Wall Templeton, who was the special guest speaker during FAB’s June meeting. Ford provided the membership with an overview of SC Dram Shop Alcohol Liability Laws. He discussed strategic methods to identify patrons who may be approaching the legal drinking limit and ways to prevent incidents involving patrons who are consuming alcohol within your establishment.

During the meeting, we also discussed opportunities to provide more valuable member perks, such as the ServSafe® class that FAB offered for free in May. This allowed 15 member employees to earn their Food Protection Manager Certificate issued by the state. Stay tuned for more information on these and other member benefits rolling out throughout the year.

FAB will again fund and host the 4th of July Fireworks on Folly, as we have done for many years. The show will be fired from 3rd Block West and will start at dusk. Make sure to mark your calendars for the upcoming Mermaids and Mateys Event scheduled for September 28 and 29.

Folly businesses will be showing up in Riverdog colors for the August 22 Folly Beach Riverdogs Game Night. FAB members will receive instructions on how to claim your free tickets in the coming weeks.

Welcome to new and returning FAB members, Wind Land & Water Sports, The Drop-In Deli, and Shop the Lowcountry.

FAB will not be hosting a July meeting, so our next scheduled meeting will be on August 8 at 6 p.m. at Tides. It will feature guest speaker Andrew Reina of The Ragnar Group, Inc., who will discuss lower-cost liquor liability insurance options for restaurants and bars. For more information or to become a member of FAB, go to and join us at our next meeting on August 8.
