August’s Yard of the Month, 220 East Erie has been home to Nadine and David Samples since 2019 when a business meeting brought them to Charleston and their dream of moving to a beach town was realized when they came to Folly. Nadine, having always been a gardener, began to enhance the established growth.
A flowing camelia tree in the front bed is surrounded by violet morning glory and fuscia hibiscus. A neat grass bed lines the front behind which personally laid concrete pavers form a walkway bordered with white gardenia shrubs. A triple jasmine covered trellis stands behind with carpet roses highlighting below.
A healthy banana tree hosts the left bed among purple butterfly plants. Farther multi-colored hibiscus bloom beneath a white crepe myrtle. Gracing the right front is a lavender crepe myrtle. Fan palms flow above violet plumbago and paprika roses.
Triple, tall, slender palmettos are found on the right corner among plumbago and bright red canna lilies . Ginger plants balance this bed. A sago palm resides among pink mandevilla beyond this right corner.
Nadine enjoys being outside and watching things grow. Being a nurse, she enjoys taking care of things. Our congratulations on a truly lovely and healthy garden. May the Samples continue to enjoy the Folly people and their dream beach home.
The Garden Club continues our summer vacation.
