Folly Faces: Local Artist Osee Koger

There are lots of reasons to visit Crosby’s: the freshest selection of fish and shellfish, Friday night dock parties, bait and tackle, an assortment of merchandise, souvenirs, and local relics, the Crosby Food truck, watching nearby dolphins circling hoping for an easy snack, or the expansive view of Intracoastal marsh, sky, and sunsets. Now you can add to that list – the colorful jumbo mural painted by local Folly artist, Osee Koger.

Local Artist Osee Koger

Osee is a free spirit. She was born on Folly Beach and attended the College of Charleston, graduating with a degree in art and botany. After spending some time in California and later living on a sailboat wandering the Bahamas, Osee returned to Folly Beach and focused on her passion – art. In 1996 she began selling her artwork at the Charleston Night Market. Over the last 20 years Osee has established herself as a fixture in the Folly Beach art community showing her creations at the Art Guild, Crosby’s, all of the Folly Beach festivals and markets, and most recently at Folly Sol. You can also find her most Friday and Saturday nights at her venue between Mr John’s and the Crab Shack. Look for the multicolored umbrella.

Among her eclectic creations you can find paintings, ornaments, coasters, hats, purses, magnets, and works on canvas, wood, slate, metal, and oyster shells. She truly does it all. And of course she does murals. You can view two of her murals at Crosby’s. She has also painted murals at LoLos (the wave), and many homes around Folly. If you are interested in a mural at your home, Osee is available and can do murals inside or outside or custom made commissions. Oh, she is also available for hire to paint The Boat.
