Folly Heads Toward Election November 7: What You Need to Know

The General Election for the City of Folly Beach is scheduled for November 7.  Residents will vote to fill three Council seats currently held by Councilmembers Barker, Grooms, and Houghton. Here are some key things to know about the election:

There are eight candidates vying for the three council seats.  Incumbent Councilmembers Billy Grooms and Katherine Houghton are on the ballot.  Incumbent Councilmember Adam Barker is not running for reelection.  The other six candidates are Chris Bizzell, Sharon DiMuro, Ann Peets, Jeannette Perna, Amy Ray, and Jody Lynn Rogers.  Each candidate was offered the opportunity to introduce themselves to our readers. You can read each candidate’s introduction  on pages 3-6.

You can vote for one, two, or three council candidates.  If you vote for fewer than three, the machine will prompt you to vote for more candidates, but you do not have to.

There is an opportunity to write in a candidate for each position. Directions are available at the polling place for write in voting.

Voting will take place from 7am-7pm. There are two Polling Places:

For Precincts Folly Beach 1 and 2 the Polling Place is the Folly Beach Baptist Church

For Precincts James Island 1A and 1B the polling place is James Island Elementary School
