January 1: Polar Bear Plunge. 12:30 pm Costume Contest. 1:30 pm Polar Plunge. All Behind Tides Hotel. Organized by FAB.
•January 20: Taste of Folly. 10 am – 4 pm Center Street.
•January 22: Promoting Good Gut Health Talk by Dietician Libby Siegel and Food Sampling. 6pm at Folly Beach Community Center. RSVP to hodonnell@follybeach.gov required by Jan. 20th. Organized by City of Folly Beach.
•February 1: Senior Health and Wellness Fair. 9a-1045a at Folly Beach Community Center. Organized by City of Folly Beach.
•February 3: Coastal Wildlife Talk for children & their families at 11 am at the Folly Beach Community Center. RSVP by Jan. 29 to hodonnell@follybeach.gov

A BIG thank you to Folly Beach friends and family for attending our Tree Lighting, Santa and Santa Shack in Folly River Park, all Folly Christmas Parade participants, city staff and supporters for their hard work, all Hanukkah Celebration and Lighting participants and organizers and for all those who participated in the New Years Eve Fireworks and Flip Flop Drop Celebration. Our community is amazing!

Our Lady of Good Counsel
Men’s Club The Men’s Club of Our Lady of Good Counsel is hosting a BBQ fundraiser on Saturday, January 13th at Father Kelly Hall, 105 West Hudson, Folly Beach from 4 – 7 pm. Watch the football playoffs while we serve BBQ pork, chicken, sides, drinks, and dessert. Tickets are $25 and $12 for ages 12 and under. Call David Draper @ 858-583-2366 to buy your tickets. Profits will go to help maintain our church and local charities.
Breakfast buffet will be hosted by Our Lady of Good Counsel’s Men’s Club on Sunday, January 28th from 9:30 – 11:15 am at Father Kelly Hall, 105 W. Hudson, Folly Beach. Adults $7 and $4 for ages 12 and under.

The Folly Beach Seniors will meet Thursday, January 4th at 11am in the Community Center. All 55 and older are invited. Our main dish will be fried chicken provided by the Carters. All others are asked to bring a covered dish. Our speakers will be Mary Cato and Lynn Lassister with the Charleston area “Let’s Walk”.

Tuesday Jan. 2, 9, 16, 23, 30 Folly’s After School Club Kids in grades K-5 are invited to do art, science, games and more fun activities.
Tuesday, Jan. 23 Folly Beach Book Club @ 2:30 pm We will discuss West with Giraffes by Lynda Rutledge. There are copies available to check out at the branch.
Saturday, Jan. 27 Chess Club @ 10 am – Noon All ages and abilities welcome.

Save the Light Oyster Roast – January 7
The annual Save the Light Oyster Roast will be held on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Bowens Island Restaurant from 2-5 PM. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and all proceeds go directly to the preservation of the Morris Island lighthouse. Details: Oysters, hot dogs, chili, chicken bog, desserts, wine, beer, soda, 3 bands – all included in the incredible price of $65 online at savethelight.org. The price is $75 on the day of the event but we usually sell out before then so don’t delay – purchase your tickets today!
