March Message From the Mayor

Mayor Goodwin

Fellow Citizens,

Come in like a Lion go out like a Lamb! That’s what they say about March. Hopefully, we can stay away from the Lion. With March comes better weather and more traffic and tourists and “Day Trippers”; so, start thinking of how you move around town and watch for the people walking in the roads as they wander around town.

If you haven’t been down West Second street, be aware there is a new four-way stop intersection at West Second street and West Hudson Avenue. It is a new traffic calming effort by DOT and the City. Hopefully, it will help slow the traffic down with the break in their straight shot from West Ashley to West Indian Avenue. The city will be working with DOT on a traffic Safety study to help identify other opportunities to help with traffic safety.

The Civic Club will be hosting a Candidates Forum in City Council Chambers on March 20 at 7:00 pm. If you cannot attend this will also be streamed live for your viewing pleasure.

Sunday March 31 is Easter Sunday. That brings the Easter Promenade on Saturday March 30 at 11 am. If you would like to participate all you need to do is gather at the Community Center (library) at 10:45. The only rules are you must wear a hat (no ball caps allowed). If you are unable to walk the Center Street distance, there will be golf cart rides available. Also, don’t forget the Easter Sunrise Service at the pier on Easter Sunday morning. If the weather is warm don’t forget your bug spray! That’s all for now, as always if you need some information or you just want to chat, I can be reached at 843-729-0298 or
